I got really bored today and started to read mezzoblue, which gave me a link to Absenter, which in turn gave me the idea to create a PHP function that draws five colours from certain areas of a picture, namely the corners and the very center, for use in colour scheming and co-ordination. Check out the file and use it on your site–a backlink would be nice!
